Too Scared to Ask - Real Questions & Real AnswerSample
The Covenant with Abraham
Reflect
You’ll notice today’s Scripture is a callback to Genesis, the first book of the Bible. In Genesis, we read about God’s covenant with Abraham. A covenant is like an extreme promise, and God held up his end of the deal. He promised to give Abraham an heir, and from that heir, Abraham's descendants would be more numerous than the stars in the sky. Eventually Abraham's descendants made their way to Egypt with Joseph, and for 430 years the Israelites lived among the Egyptians. The promise didn’t end with Abraham’s many descendants. God went on to say that He would deliver His people out of slavery and into a promised land, which is exactly what He did. Throughout the rest of this week, we will look at God’s fulfillment of His promises.
