Romans: A 21-Day Musical Devotional

DAY 12 OF 21

Glory to Come

“If we suffer with Christ,” yesterday’s song concluded, “will we also be glorified?” The answer is yes; in fact, Paul actually renders this statement as an affirmation in 8:17. Today’s passage explains why believers have hope in suffering, for while the world is certainly full of suffering and pain, God will one day completely redeem all of creation, including believers. In vv. 28-30, Paul reminds his audience that the Lord works all things for the good of those who love Him, tethering this comforting truth to growth in Christ-likeness and God’s progressive work of salvation (called the “Golden Chain of Salvation”): foreknown, predestined, called, justified and glorified. You who are declared righteous by faith in Christ, know that it was the Lord who began your salvation from eternity past and that He will finish it. There is glory to come, so suffer well.
