Romans: A 21-Day Musical DevotionalSample

Lamentation
After the magnificent climax at the end of chapter 8, in which Paul declares that nothing can separate believers from the love of God, he suddenly shifts his focus to the people of Israel. Paul expresses heartbrokenness over the spiritual state of Israel, his kinsmen (remember that Paul is himself a Jew), because they rejected and crucified the Messiah whom God promised would be their Savior. It might seem that God’s promises to Israel, then, have failed. And if God’s promises to Israel have failed, how can we believers trust that His promises to us (like those in chapter 8) will come true?
Paul devotes the next couple of chapters to explaining that God’s word has not failed.
