Planted and FlourishingSample
Imagine you are a gust of wind only wanting to push things over. How easy would it be to push around a scrunched-up piece of paper? That would be very easy! Even a small gust of wind could send a paper ball flying because it’s light, small, and not connected to anything to hold it in place.
What about a tent? That would be a little bit harder because a tent is connected to the ground with pegs and strings. It needs to be tied or weighed down, or a strong gust of wind will blow it over. Have you ever been at the beach when it’s begun to get windy and seen all the shade tents fly away?
How about a tree? A tree is much harder for the wind to blow over because a tree has roots that go deep into the ground, not just the top layer of soil like a tent peg. Even a strong wind gust might cause the tree to sway at the top, but its roots will keep it grounded.
We can be like a tree and grow roots deep in God. Reading His word, praying, and worshipping Him help us grow deeper and deeper. Just like the tree, when our roots are deep, we can stand firm no matter what might try to push us over. A tree with deep roots can grow tall and stay strong. When we have a deep relationship with God, we can grow and become strong. A tree with deep roots is flourishing. We can have a life that is flourishing when we let our roots grow deep in God.
