One Perfect Plan: The Bible's Big Story in Tiny PoemsSample
Day 5: The Death and Resurrection of Jesus – God’s Perfect Plan
One cross–
the crowds now shout, “Crucify!”
For you and me, He was willing to die.
One empty tomb–
the stone’s rolled away.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Christ is risen today!
One heaven on earth–
where we will dwell.
Every tear’s wiped away, and all will be well!
Even Jesus’s closest friends, His disciples, didn’t understand why He had to die. They imagined that Jesus would make everything better for them right then and there. Jesus did bring heaven down to earth through His preaching, parables, and healing. But remember how our world became broken when Adam and Eve ate that forbidden fruit? All kinds of bad things entered the world then.
However, by entering into our world and giving up His life for us on the cross, Jesus fixed what was broken. Three days after Jesus’ death on the cross, His followers (the women) went to the tomb where He was buried and discovered Jesus was gone. The tomb was empty. Jesus had risen indeed!
When Jesus returns again, everything will be made right. Hallelujah for that day!
Question: If you saw that the stone had been rolled away from Jesus’ tomb, who would you run and tell first? Aren’t you glad God had a plan to make everything better again?
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for Your big story and Your perfect plan! I’m glad I can be a part of it!
