An Untimely Defenestration
Paul, with so much to say before he leaves town, preaches all throughout the night. One unfortunate fellow falls asleep during the sermon...
Read: Acts 20:1-12 (NLT)
Explore the Theme: Paul was getting ready to leave the town of Troas but he had an important message for them. One of the young men sinks into a deep sleep and falls out the window to his death. Paul raises him from the dead and moves on. What do you think the people who witnessed this were saying about God? How might Paul’s actions have affected the way they thought of God?
Ask God: Paul gave his life to serve God. How willing are you for God to use you for his purposes? What fears come up for you? Share these worries with God and consider Paul’s example. What did he have to offer and what did he risk? Ask God to make himself evident in your life so that people can see and give glory to God.
Live it Out: One way we get to know Jesus and start to reflect him in our lives is by spending time with God. Prayer, studying and thinking deeply about scripture, and worship are just a few ways you can deepen your relationship with Jesus. Which of these stands out to you today? Set aside some time today to practice it.
