A Story of Faith

In the last lesson, we talked about the faith of Joseph. However, Mary’s faith was special too.

When the angel came to her to tell her about the supernatural birth of the Messiah, she believed that it would happen! Despite worrying about what her fiancé might think, she accepted the message from the angel and trusted in God to take care of her.

Back in those days, it was very dangerous for a young woman to become pregnant with someone who wasn't her husband. It could get a girl killed! Mary's life was on the line if Joseph didn't believe her story. Yet, Mary had faith. She knew that God would somehow protect her and the baby.

God did exactly that. As mentioned last time, God sent an angel to tell Joseph the entire story about Mary. Joseph believed the words of the angel and married Mary while she was still pregnant. This was probably a huge relief to Mary!

Sometimes, it’s scary to step out in faith, but it's often the best thing that we can do. Though it was hard for Mary and Joseph to choose faith, their actions helped usher in the birth of the Messiah.
