The Apple Of His Eye

The technical experts tell us that we humans are made up of various elements that include sulphur, phosphorus, iron, plus a whole lot of water. But that’s not what we really are. We are the created masterpieces of God Himself. When He made human beings, He stopped creating. He couldn’t top that!

And not only are we His creations, we are unique. There is no one just like me (probably just as well!). No one else can do just what I can do in just the same way as I am doing it. But we must admit, we are flawed masterpieces. We bear the stains of our going astray from our Maker. Like old pictures hanging in a gallery, we need restoration.

Our God is in the restoration business. He longs for us to be who He means us to be. He wants us to be in His forever family. He makes it possible by having Jesus burst open the door of guilt and shame that keeps us from Him. By putting our hand of faith in Jesus’ hand, we go with Him into the presence of God. We are no longer just spoilt wonders of creation; we are His children.

How sad that we may see ourselves as merely miserable sinners grudgingly accepted by a distant deity. We are much-loved children, who admittedly are much in need of that love. We are far from perfect but remain the apple of His eye.
