Many of us may have heard of the poem that speaks about “the road less traveled.” While that particular poem leans more towards being adventurous and open to new ideas, it can also speak to decisions and crossroads that many of us will find ourselves in throughout our lives. Sooner or later we’ll all have to make a choice—choose the road less traveled, or choose the easy road with no obstacles. The problem is when the crossroads is a person, thing, or temptation we’ve been trying to avoid. It’s at this point that we have a choice to make. We can take the easy road and give in, decide that what we want is most important, and leave the consequences to be dealt with another day. Or we can take the road that may not be the most popular, but lead us in the direction that we know we should go—the road where we fight against those roadblocks that are trying to lead us astray.

This week when you find yourself in a tempting situation, imagine yourself standing at just this kind of crossroads. What are some things you can do to make sure that when it’s time to make a choice, you choose the road that leads straight to the path God has set out for you?
