HOW DO I LEAD A STUDENT TO JESUS?
As you lead students, you will have opportunities to lead them to salvation in Jesus. This is one of the most incredible things to get to be a part of as a leader! Here are some practical tools for you to use.
Start with some leading questions:
- “Tell me about your relationship with God?”
- “Who is Jesus to you?”
- “Have you surrendered your life to Jesus?”
The goal of this is to have a student tell you some of their life story and what has brought them to this moment. Take time to listen to them and understand what is going on in their life.
After you take time to listen to their story and understand them, guide them in a conversation about the Gospel. Two of the best tools that we have found in leading someone to Jesus are:
1. The 4 Spiritual Laws
2. The Romans Road
As you talk with a student, you can help them understand these 4 Spiritual Laws. These 4 spiritual laws are simple truths that help explain the Gospel.
1. GOD LOVES YOU. God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
2. SIN SEPARATES YOU. Humans are sinful and separated from God. Therefore, we cannot know and experience God's love and plan for his life.
3. JESUS IS THE SOLUTION. Jesus Christ is God's only solution for our sins. Through Jesus, you can know and experience God's love and plan for your life.
4. RECEIVE JESUS. We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives.
The Romans Road is another great way to explain Salvation that uses key scriptures in the book of Romans.
- Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
- Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
- Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
- Romans 10:9 "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
These are scriptures that reinforce the 4 Spiritual Laws that explain the Gospel.
You can lead a young person in a simple prayer of salvation like this: “Jesus, I repent of my sins. I believe you are my Lord and Savior. Come make your home inside of my heart. In Jesus name, Amen."
QUESTION TO ASK YOURSELF: Do you feel confident in being able to lead someone to Jesus? Why?
About this Plan
