Milestones - Salvation, Baptism, CommunionSample
Milestones are sometimes about the first time we do something or the last time we do something. Your first steps, or your last day in school. The end of something and the beginning of something. Communion might seem like it’s about the end of Jesus’ life, but it’s also about the beginning of forgiveness and new life with Christ. When Jesus shared the first communion with His disciples, it’s also known as ‘the Last Supper’. It was the last meal Jesus shared with His disciples before He died on the cross, and it became the beginning of something new, the first communion, which is now a practice shared by Christians for thousands of years since.
The word communion comes from a Latin word that means ‘sharing in common’. As Christians, followers of Jesus, we share communion with one another. From the very first churches that began after Jesus ascended to heaven, Christians have shared communion together. When the church meets together, we share fellowship, we learn about God, we pray and we share communion.
Communion is remembering all that Jesus has done for us. Over the next few days, we’ll learn all about this important milestone.
