Have you ever stopped and just looked around? Like, really looked around? Have you ever thought about why and how things work the way they do? Why it is that our atmosphere is perfect for supporting human life? How it is that nature and the world around us work together so well? It’s because it was all intricately designed and built by an all-powerful God. And it’s not subtle! Everything around us screams that there is a God and even people who don’t know Jesus often believe that there is something out there. God’s power is just that big! Sometimes we just need direction to help us figure out who this God is that everything points to.

In our passage today, we see that even the Greeks, who believed in many gods and spent a whole lot of time discussing new ideas, knew that there was a God that they had not yet found. This is the case for many of us; we seek something but struggle to find it because we look in the wrong places. We see from these verses that God is the creator and is the only true God, and that Jesus proved this when He died and was resurrected again. Through this, God has made his power clear so that people would see Him and reach out to Him. Paul also points out that God’s power is greater than anything man-made, like the Greek temples. He tells his listeners that God does not need us to serve Him, but rather He is the one who gives life and breath to all. How often in your life do you attribute things to an ‘unknown god’ and miss the fact that it is God who is crying out to you, saying, “I want you to be with me.”?

Look at the world around you today and see if you can spot instances of God’s power on display. How does that make you feel? In what ways can you praise God today for His power and majesty?
