In today’s reading, we see that Philip had the opportunity to share his knowledge of scripture with a man he met on the road. When was the last time you had the opportunity to tell someone about Jesus? Write about it in your journal.

Philip seemed ready to go, didn’t he? The Holy Spirit told him to go join the chariot, and he went! The Ethiopian man asked to be baptised, and he did it! Philip was confident and prepared to share the knowledge and love of Jesus with the people he met.

Phillip was filled with the Holy Spirit – the same Spirit we have as our helper today. Think about that: if you are a follower of Jesus, you have access to the same Spirit and power that told Phillip to act, gave him the authority to teach, and, in the end, caused him to disappear before the Ethiopian man’s eyes!

On a scale of 1-10 (low to high), how much confidence do you have in your Holy Spirit authority? Write in your journal why you feel that way. Do you want more confidence than you currently have? Do you need proof that you have access to the same Spirit as the men and women in the Bible? Spend some time looking up the following verses and writing them in your journal:

Which of these verses means the most to you? Memorise it and keep it close. Share it with someone this week. Repeat it if you lose your confidence. Remember, you are filled with the same Spirit as Philip was. How does that knowledge change the way you will live this week?
