Becoming The Father God Wants You To BeSample
The Right Example
As you implement the right strategy, imitate your Heavenly Father. Show your children who God is so they will want to know Him like you do
God is love. Yes, He commands and expects obedience from His children, but He also extends mercy and grace and forgiveness freely. Even when He disciplines His children, He does so from an eternal perspective, with patience and in love.
Do the same for your children, and they will find it easy to trust God and make Him their own Heavenly Father.
- Do your children fear you or feel safe with you?
- What difference does it make?
- Are you confident of God’s forgiveness when you fail?
- Are your children confident of your forgiveness when they fail?
- Do you discipline your children with God’s goals or your own goals in mind? What difference does it make?
- Does the way that you love your children glorify God, or show them Who He is?
Read Ephesians 5:1, 1 John 4:8, and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Proverbs 23:26.
About this Plan
Children are a blessing from the Lord, no matter the circumstances surrounding their birth (Psalm 127:3). If you are a father, thank God for it and decide right now that you are going to be what God wants you to be in your children’s lives, a visible, tangible illustration of Him, no matter what choices you’ve made to this point. Being a good father really is not as complicated as you might think! All you have to do is love your children like your Heavenly Father loves you.
