Take Jesus to Your Job Interview

Job interviews are one of the loneliest, most frightening moments you can have in your life. I’ve been in more interviews than a normal human being should ever endure. Working in advertising my whole life, I was exposed to that situation too many times.

It was scary when I went alone, but after I started inviting God to my interviews, it was always great. I always pray before the interview and ask the Holy Spirit to be with me and all the people in the room. I ask for the right words, the right thoughts, and to help me stay focused and joyful throughout the interview.

When I get there, I remind myself that I’m the owner's son. God owns everything, and He is our Father, so it is all ours. That makes a world of difference; you feel empowered, motivated, confident. Even if I don’t get the job, I don’t get upset. I know He has something better for me.

I can tell God is there because when I’m by myself practicing, I mess up almost every time, no matter how much I practice. I forget dates, facts, and things don’t look too promising. But when it’s game time, the Holy Spirit takes over, and I become like another person. Everything comes naturally; suddenly, I’m fluent, avid, creative, funny, smart – all the things He is.

I don’t know about you, but I will never want to go to an interview by myself.
