Celebrating Your BaptismSample

Today's reading begins with a great exclamation, “How great is the love that the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” Don’t wander away from that thought. Let it linger with you for a moment. God’s love has been poured out onto you and moved you from death in sin to life with Him, and then you have been given an inheritance of eternal life as sons and daughters of God.
1 John 3:16 says, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”
John teaches us about the love we’ve received from the Father and gives us the standard by which we should live from now on. There has been a calling on your life from the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4 tells us to live a life worthy of that calling.
If we default toward love for one another in every situation, we will live more like Jesus and up to the standard of love God has placed on us.
