Embrace of the Humble: 7 Ways to Grow in Your Servitude

DAY 1 OF 7

Our service blesses others

What feelings trigger in you when you hear that you should serve God?

I can only speak for myself, but it scared me for many years, especially because I automatically thought, "I can't do that. I'm not good enough. That sounds like a lot of work and not much fun." haha.

Yet there is something MORE in the Bible. It says:

“Worship [serve] the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.” (Psalm 100:2 NIV)

And, here, serving is not coincidentally associated with joy. Serving will let you—and others—experience joy!

A very recent example: a friend of mine had come a long way and traveled over 600 kilometers to tell people at a small, comfortable gathering about a God who can bring hope to any situation, no matter how hopeless! That is the ministry God put on her heart!

On one of those evenings, she came to visit me. I had invited a couple of friends at the same time. My friends, generous as they are, did not hesitate to gift her a little financial support. Simply because that is their ministry. That is what God put on their hearts!

And God put it on my heart to encourage her several times: "Tomorrow, when you are at the gathering again, speak out loud what God puts on your heart!"

And that's exactly what happened. She was able to pick up the microphone at that retreat and speak out loud something that made a big difference in the life of another woman, one she didn't even know, encouraging her to "finally" take up her ministry.

And quite honestly, in between, there were many, many more miracles that we were able to experience in those few days simply because everyone was "serving" in their place—whether through a word of encouragement, giving, or speaking out of hope and truth!

As Scripture says:

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." (1 Peter 4:10)

Do you see how diverse serving is, how happy it makes us, and how this cycle just keeps going if we don't break it?

Serve God with what YOU have on your heart, and experience how He makes the impossible possible!

You are a miracle!
