The Truth Project Scriptural DevotionSample
A "mystery" is not merely an enigma. In the language of the Bible, a "mystery" is truth once concealed but now revealed. Who could have foreseen that the fearsome God of Sinai, who hid His face from Moses and blasted Israel's foes, would one day draw all nations into the circle of His expansive love? Who knew that He would go so far as to come down from the heights and inhabit the individual heart? Yet such is the astonishing truth; for He delights to make His dwelling with the lowly. Do I appreciate the glorious surprise of God's redemptive work in Christ?
Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. From everlasting to everlasting. You are God (PSA.90.1). With You there is no variation or shadow of turning (JAS.1.17); and yet in the fullness of time, You have chosen to do an entirely new thing in the world. Against all expectation, and contrary to all my merits and deserts, You have seen fit to make Your home within my heart. Purify my mind and make me worthy to serve as a sanctuary of Your holy presence.
