God Calls You to Climb the Mountain

DAY 2 OF 6

God's First Promise to Abram

The first time God spoke to Abram was in Genesis 12:1-3. God called him to leave his homeland, leave his family, and go to a land that He would show him. In this passage, God makes an extraordinary promise: “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Abram obeyed, leaving the land of Haran and heading to Canaan, not knowing exactly where he was going. This first communication from God to Abram was fundamental in establishing a relationship of faith and obedience. God made a comprehensive promise of blessing, multiplication, and protection.

Many times, God calls us to step out of our "comfort zone," and that can be scary. However, like Abram, we are invited to trust in God's promise, even when the path ahead seems uncertain. This was an initial test of faith for Abram, but it would not be the last. God knew Abram needed reaffirmation and encouragement throughout his journey.

Reflection Question:

Do you remember the first time you felt God speaking to you? What was the promise or calling He made to you? How did you respond?

About this Plan

God Calls You to Climb the Mountain

Abraham was called to leave his land and trust in God's promises, even when everything seemed uncertain. His faith was tested, and he climbed the mountain with his son, believing in divine provision. God also calls us to journeys of faith and trust, where only He and we walk together. Trust in His promise.
