100% + 100%

To understand today’s God Math equation, you need to understand a bit of regular math. Imagine a bowl of raisins and peanuts. There are 50 raisins and 50 peanuts, giving me 100 total things to snack on. This mixture is 50% raisins and 50% peanuts, making a bowl that’s 100% delicious snacks.

I could never say that my bowl is 100% raisins and 100% peanuts. How could it be completely one thing, but also completely the other thing? I could have one bowl that is 100% raisins and a different bowl that is 100% peanuts, but I can’t have both and still say they’re each 100%.

Ouch, my head hurts.

But guess what? When Jesus became human, he practically broke math, because he was 100% God and 100% human. For the first (and only) time in history, 100% + 100% equaled 100%.

It’s really hard to wrap our brains around because it doesn’t make sense. How can Jesus be completely God and completely human? But it’s actually ok that you don’t understand it. If you really, fully understood it, it wouldn’t be God’s amazing math! It would just be regular old people math and Jesus would just be a regular old person, and he wouldn’t have had the power to save us from sin or give us eternal life.
