How to Keep a Peaceful Conscience?

DAY 4 OF 6

Our conscience finds peace once we are at peace with God and we have friendship with him. Then, the conscience judges the spiritual state of a person, whether good or bad, forgiven or not. If we are right, the conscience absolves and comforts us, but if we are wrong with God, the conscience accuses and condemns. The one who has been washed by the blood of Christ is free to enjoy forgiveness and communion with God. The sin that stains our conscience is washed away by applying the blood of Christ. “… The blood of Jesus… cleanses us from all sin”, 1 John 1:7. “Christ… freed us from our sins with His blood”, Revelation 1:5 (NLT). “His blood purifies us, so we can be sure we’ve been forgiven…” Hebrews 9:14 (NLT).

The blood of Christ sprinkled on the sinner’s conscience speaks of forgiveness and peace: “Let us go right into the presence of God… with full assurance… for our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean…” Hebrews 10:22 (NLT). So once a person hears Christ and clings to His grace through faith, they are at peace, and no one can accuse them. “… Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us”, Romans 8:34 (NLT). And then it says: “… Nothing can separate us from God’s love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love…”, Romans 8:38-39 (NLT).
