Fan the Flame and Rekindle The Fire Again
It only takes a second to turn our hearts and set our gaze unto the Lord, and He'll come responding + delighting. But how easy is it to find ourselves pulled away by the distractions of life and at times the weighty cares of this world? What happens after a powerful Sunday service or that fire-filled revival night? Does that fire still continue to burn ablaze or has it grown tired?
It's time to fan the flame and rekindle the fire again. There's a precious oil from the Holy One. And oh how it's ever flowing in abundance for us daily. A fresh oil ready to be poured onto us, keeping our fire burning aglow.
And what's so encouraging is that we don't have to wait for the next move of God! The Lord is already moving right now, we just have to respond. It only takes a second to turn, and He’ll come. Ready to manifest His glory and splendor. There are degrees and measures we haven’t even encountered of the Lord yet.
2 Timothy 1:6
That is why I would remind you to stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands with those of the elders at your ordination].
The Greek word anazópureó biblically translates as "kindle afresh" and it properly means to kindle up, inflame one's mind, or to have strength or zeal. Paul exhorted and reminded Timothy, that there was already a flame inside of him, he just had to stir it up!
Over the next few days, let's spend our time with the Lord, asking Him to blow on the embers of our hearts & use these reflection points in your quiet time to lead you in a beautiful time of refreshing:
- Prayer. Be even more intentional. Carve out time to be still before the Lord & spend time communing with Him in prayer. Imagine the Lord literally waiting for you to come + abide with Him. No rush, just at His feet pouring out your love, thanksgiving, worship, ready to receive His heart for you. Jot down what He's saying/doing at that moment.
- Scripture. Each day let's have a scripture focus to meditate on from the book of Psalms, Inviting the Holy Spirit in, as we fully immerse ourselves in the presence of Jesus. But instead of just reading through, begin to declare the word aloud! Sing the word. Pray the word. Worship with the word. Explore different translations. Allow the Lord to lead you into a beautiful time of revelation & capture your heart in devotion. Amen?!
