Ten Minutes With God for WomenSample

His
For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.
Deuteronomy 7:6
I never thought much about being chosen by God—being His. Even as a Christian, being His was not my core identity. Ministry, serving, motherhood, and being a good wife were what identified me. Then my life fell apart. After going through an unwanted divorce and a terrible season of depression, I came to know Jesus as the lover of my soul—and myself as His. Gone were the lights, the people, and the accolades. Gone were my dreams of happily ever after. My days were spent shuffling between shift work, single parenting, and a desperate desire to believe that Jesus still had hold of my life. He did and still does.
What defines you? The sweetest name you and I can ever embrace is being His. We are His treasured possession. We belong to the God of all power and might. We are not our own. It might sound heavy but, friend, this identity lightens every load. Knowing the love of our burden bearer is the greatest thing imaginable. We come to believe that we have value because we know we are His treasure and His woman.
Today I will remember:
- God calls me holy, a treasure, and His.
- My core identity is that I am a woman who belongs to God.
- Because I am His, He will lead me and guide me through a life that is often hard.
Lord, in a world of uncertainty I can be certain that two things will never change: my value and Your love for me.
