The Incredible Backstory

How many of us stop to consider that John 3:16 doesn’t just show up out of nowhere? We refer to it so often on its own that it seems to be a stand-alone sentence. Far from it. Apart from the entirety of the Old Testament before it, there is the immediate context of Jesus being visited at night by religious leader Nicodemus.

On the John 3:16 Podcast, New Testament experts Cass Kwakye and Tom Habib do an incredible job of summing up the Scriptural strands that come together in "For God so loved the world..."

At the initial point of Jesus telling Nicodemus about the Kingdom of God, what stands out to you? Would Nicodemus have expected Jesus to bring up being "born again"? What is the Spirit? How would you describe being born in the Spirit? How can we know that we have been born in the Spirit?
