Marriage Reimagined: Becoming Partners in Life and BusinessSample

Marriage Reimagined: Becoming Partners in Life and Business

DAY 1 OF 3

Opposites Can Attract!

Shared by Troy

We didn’t always work together professionally. We actually tried to stay as far away from each other’s career choices as possible as we were just “made so differently.” I was the passion-fueled entrepreneurial spirit who dreamed big and thrived off of relationships. While Shantel was the 9-5, operational mastermind that followed a plan, and preferred to be behind-the-scenes.

Looking back at this now, it’s no wonder why we work together so well, but what’s more amazing is how our marriage grew stronger and deeper by saying “I do” to working together professionally.

We bet you and your spouse are total opposites too. Perhaps one is an extrovert and the other an introvert? One thinks outside of the box, while the other can see every possible outcome? Whatever your opposites are, when you unify them together as one with God at the center, a powerful, harmonious union is birthed for both your marriage AND potential business (Ecclesiastes 4:12). With God at the center, your differences don’t create division but instead form a stronger, more dynamic partnership that can deepen your connection and create an unshakable bond.

Genesis 2:24 tells us that in marriage, two become one. While that’s a beautiful truth, we know from experience it doesn’t mean we suddenly think or act the same. Instead, God designed us with unique strengths so that, as one, we can complement each other.

We will look at Priscilla and Aquila, close friends of Apostle Paul, tent-makers, and a couple who perfectly demonstrate this truth in action captured in Acts. They show us the power of a God-centered marriage, despite differences. They didn’t just live life together—they partnered in business and ministry, using their unique strengths to glorify God.

Their unity reminds us that marriage is not about being the same but about complementing one another. As Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” When you invite God into your marriage, He turns your differences into strengths and your partnership into purpose. A purpose that can lead to a business!

Today’s Prayer

Lord, thank You for the unique strengths You’ve given us as a couple. Help us to see our differences as gifts and to unite them according to Your will. Teach us to grow closer to each other and to You, building a partnership that honors and glorifies You. Amen.

Reflect

Reflect on Ecclesiastes 4:12 - how does the idea of a "cord of three strands" inspire you to deepen your connection with your spouse and include God in your partnership?

Come back tomorrow, for day two, to learn how to let go and let God, so you can walk together as one.

Day 2

About this Plan

Marriage Reimagined: Becoming Partners in Life and Business

What if God designed husbands and wives to be true partners in every aspect of life—including business? True unity comes when couples cooperate rather than compete. In this 3-day plan, Troy and Shantel Brooks show how becoming “Spartners”- spouses who are business partners- aligns with God’s design for marriage. By applying biblical principles of unity, surrender, and purpose, you’ll discover how working together can strengthen your marriage, deepen your connection, and help you thrive both in love and business.
