Marriage Reimagined: Becoming Partners in Life and BusinessSample

Let Go and Let God
Shared by Shantel
I never imagined leaving a career that cost us thousands of dollars, took 15 years of schooling, and 15 years of practice to become an entrepreneur with Troy. I feared losing my identity. Ironically, the identity I clung to didn’t reflect my true self—parts of me were lost, forgotten, and left untapped.
Thankfully, God stretched our mindset, revealing that our marriage was meant to "be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion" not just at home, but also in our community through business and ministry (Genesis 1:28). This shift transformed everything. I began to see Troy as both my husband and partner, solidifying our identity in Christ. With deeper connection, stronger communication, and greater intimacy, we built a purpose-driven life together, becoming stronger as a couple than ever before.
No matter if it’s differences, fears, egos, or doubts, we need to let go and let God lead so we can walk as a team in unity.
Priscilla and Aquila are a powerful example of unity in marriage. This husband-and-wife team worked together in their tent-making business in Corinth, where they met the Apostle Paul, who shared their trade. Their friendship with Paul grew as they hosted him in their home and even traveled with him on occasion. By using their business to support their ministry, they ensured they were not a burden to the church, demonstrating both humility and purpose.
As tentmakers, they worked side by side to meet their needs. As disciples, they taught and corrected Apollos with humility and wisdom (Acts 18:26), helping him better understand the Gospel. And in their home, they opened their doors to host a church, building up the early Christian community (Romans 16:3-4). In every role, they exemplified teamwork, walking together in unity (Amos 3:3).
True unity comes when couples cooperate rather than compete. Disagreements may arise, but unity grows when couples humble themselves, respect each other’s strengths, and work in harmony toward God’s purpose.
When couples prioritize serving God together—whether in marriage or business—they build a unity that is resilient and purposeful (Matthew 6:33). By putting God first, Priscilla and Aquila deepened their connection, thrived in their marriage, and changed lives through their service. You can too!
Today’s Prayer:
Lord, thank You for making marriage a partnership. Help us let go of fears and egos, walk in unity, and honor each other’s gifts. Align our hearts with Your purpose so our marriage glorifies You. Amen.
Reflect:
Consider the example of Priscilla and Aquila. How can you and your spouse work together to serve God in your unique roles, whether through business, ministry or a shared project?
“See” you tomorrow, for our final day, to learn what can happen when you place God at the center of your marriage.
About this Plan

What if God designed husbands and wives to be true partners in every aspect of life—including business? True unity comes when couples cooperate rather than compete. In this 3-day plan, Troy and Shantel Brooks show how becoming “Spartners”- spouses who are business partners- aligns with God’s design for marriage. By applying biblical principles of unity, surrender, and purpose, you’ll discover how working together can strengthen your marriage, deepen your connection, and help you thrive both in love and business.
