Ghost Stories

DAY 1 OF 28

When you picture a mountain, what comes to your mind? Is it the height? What about the strength of a mountain? Do you think about what a mountain is made of and picture rocks and hard ground? Whatever it is, I’m sure a hiding place is not what came to mind. Mountains are made when tectonic plates are pushed and folded together. After the pushing and folding occurs, the high pressure and lower temperatures form the rocks that make up the mountain itself. Now, you’re probably wondering why we’re talking about mountains and what this has to do with ghosts. When you chose this plan, you most likely expected there to be a lot of talk about spooky season, especially within the first day of this plan. I promise there is a lot of talk in this study about being haunted, a ghost, and even bones! Yes, bones. Now, that may sound strange because those things do not seem like they have a lot to do with Jesus, or anything in the Bible really but this week you will read and study how all those things relate to what God is doing in your life.

Back to the point of why we had a mini science lesson on mountains. In the Bible, we see throughout the Old and New Testament that a lot of the people talked about in Scripture spent time praying on a mountain, ran away to hide in the mountains, or encountered the presence of God by standing on top of a mountain. Whatever the reason for many of those throughout the Bible who had a mountaintop experience with God, the point of it was that God wanted to reveal Himself to them. The majority of these stories on the mountain were the simple fact of God wanting to show others that He was there for them in refuge and that He had a plan for whatever was going on. God wants to make His presence known to you in the same way. That may not mean that you need to go hike a mountain for God to reveal Himself to you. Let’s be honest, we’re probably too out of shape for that anyway. God can and will make Himself known to you in your everyday life. Maybe you’re in a season where you are hiding and running into the mountains from certain sins or situations in your life. Perhaps, you have withdrawn to spend time with the Lord and pray on your mountain. Whatever the reason is for where you are currently, God is with you and He wants to show you that He is because He cares for you.

This week, we will be studying what having a mountaintop experience means and how God makes Himself known to us.

Day 2

About this Plan

Ghost Stories

Bundle up as we study stories over this Bible Plan that are worthy of being shared around a campfire with friends. These stories all portray characters throughout Scripture who have supernatural (and often terrifying) encounters with the Power of God. Welcome to Ghost Stories.
