Stop Milking It - Wean for the Win!Sample

You breed what you feed
Nurture faith, hope and trust. One major danger in weaning times is that we tend towards negativity and we begin to decline in or even lose our faith, hope and trust because of the discomfort we are experiencing. It’s so important to remind ourselves that God is working for our good. Don’t listen to the enemy’s lies that weaning is a time of punishment or that God is cruel. I really had to guard against this in my time of weaning when I was made redundant. It felt to me like God was being cruel and deliberately holding back good things from me. My circumstances seemed to confirm that this was true. We need to hold onto God’s promises with everything we’ve got when thoughts of him being cruel start to creep in. We need to remind ourselves of all of the times he has been good and faithful as we look back over our lives so far and focus on that. When you are already in a negative mindset it’s very easy to get on board with these lies and to go speeding down a negative spiral.
To nurture means to take care of, feed and protect something. We need to be nurturing faith, hope and trust and not nurturing negativity, fear and doubt. As our title today states, we breed what we feed. If we feed our faith by singing songs that proclaim God’s goodness, reading the Bible, praying and being around good faith-filled people – we will breed faith and a positive outlook on our lives. If we feed negativity by allowing negative thoughts freedom to roam in our minds, negative statements to come out of our mouths, and hang out with negative people, we will breed negativity, fear and doubt.
God wants to wean you and to have you on solid food because it will nourish you. He has more for you, not less. Speak words of faith, hope and trust over your weaning situation. Nurture these things as a priority and your weaning time will be much sweeter.
