Stop Milking It - Wean for the Win!Sample

Real appeal
Real – if you are vulnerable and real about what you’ve experienced during your weaning time, you can help others with what you’ve gleaned as you’ve weaned. I have a huge respect for people who go through difficult times, showing vulnerability and authenticity. People who are honest and raw, balanced with hope, faith and a positive outlook have real appeal to me. When I was studying for my masters in theology, the biggest thing I remember learning was how people nowadays do not need or want an expert. They want a ‘fellow traveller’ who is easy to relate to on this up and down journey of faith. We don’t want someone pretending they’ve got it all together, we want someone who understands how we feel and who knows the struggle is real.
For me, Jesus is the ultimate fellow traveller. He chose to walk through life in a real and authentic way. He wept, he shouted, he got angry, he laughed. Jesus lived and walked alongside people, rubbing shoulders, making breakfast, challenging, serving and loving his friends. Jesus chose to live among us. None of us have easy lives, we all go through tough times, and he truly understands that.
If we can be real, vulnerable and open about our weaknesses and trials we really can help and bless others who are also experiencing difficult days. I know that when others have shared their difficulties and challenges with me, it’s brought a sense of release and freedom to my life. Let’s be real as we wean for the win.
Reflection
Are you walking through your wean in a way that is real, vulnerable and authentic or are you putting on a pretence that everything is tickity boo?
It’s not wise to share everything with everyone, but is there someone you could reach out to for support and encouragement and to share the difficulties of your weaning time with?

About this Plan

This plan is focused on the theme of spiritual weaning. It examines the things God may be weaning us off and explains why weaning is an important process in our spiritual development. It unpacks the reasons as to why we need to ‘lean into the wean’ and embrace what God is doing through the weaning process to help us become more mature in him.
