God as Your Planmaker - Jeremiah 29:11Sample

This week, let’s dive into one of my favourite Bible verses—Jeremiah 29:11:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

We’ll examine this powerful verse each day, uncovering its meaning and allowing it to strengthen our faith.

Meditating on a single Bible verse can be powerful, but we must examine its context to truly grasp it.

Jeremiah wrote these words in a letter to the Israelites exiled to Babylon (verse 1). Living in exile is a painful experience; after being forced to leave everything behind and taken against your will to an unknown foreign country, where you live like an outcast and have to start all over again.

Yet, through Jeremiah, God speaks to His people, reminding them: You are not forgotten. Your exile is not the end of your story. God spoke similar words through Isaiah:

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are ever before me.” – Isaiah 49:15-16

Do you feel “exiled”? Abandoned? Forgotten? Uprooted? Out of place? God wants to tell you today:

"I have not forgotten you; I could never forget you because I have you engraved on the palms of my hands. I see what you are going through, and Your hardship will not last forever. I have good plans for you, full of hope and peace. I love you.”
