EquipHer Vol. 23: "Living With Intentionality"

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1 – Start With The Small Things

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:17 NIV)

Have you ever felt like you’re going through your day on autopilot? Between emails, deadlines, meetings, and constant problem-solving, you can end the day with a full schedule... and an empty heart. Yet it’s right there—in the middle of professional pressure and everyday hustle—that our faith is called to show up. But it won’t show up on its own. It takes intentionality.

Being intentional means consciously choosing how we want to live and represent Christ in our work. It’s not about having more time, but being more present. It’s about realizing that every moment, even the ones that seem the least “spiritual,” can be used by God—if we’re willing to approach them with attention and intention.

This isn’t about adding more “spiritual” tasks to your to-do list—it’s about making room for God in what you’re already doing: in that meeting you’re tempted to breeze through, in a conversation by the coffee machine, in a message that could be written with just a little more empathy. The details matter. And when lived with intentionality, those details become the clearest sign of someone who carries the presence of Christ.

Jesus showed us what it means to live with intentionality. Nothing He did was random—every word, every action, every encounter had purpose. Everything He did was aligned with one clear mission: to fulfill the will of the Father and reveal the Kingdom of God. Even when caught in unexpected moments, Jesus always responded with intention. Every move He made reflected His eternal purpose.

And He left us with this instruction: “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14 NIV). That means even in the chaos of a workday, during the most technical business meeting, or while replying to yet another email, we have the opportunity to shine—to reflect hope, joy, love, and compassion. Not our own light, but the light that comes from deep communion with God.

When you live with intentionality, every choice becomes an opportunity to reflect Christ with integrity. Even in professional settings, intentionality helps you truly show up: when you listen attentively to a colleague, respond with grace under pressure, or stay true to your values in a tough decision. You don’t have to wait for “spiritual moments” to live out your faith. Just be intentional—today.

Today’s Practical Step:
Identify three moments in your workday where you usually run on autopilot—maybe it’s replying to emails, joining a video call, or sending a quick message. Today, pause before each of those moments and ask yourself: “How can I reflect Jesus in this small action?” Then do it—with intentionality.

Prayer:
Lord, I don’t want to live by habit. Help me to be present, intentional, and attentive. I want to honor You not just in big decisions, but in the small details. Make me a light in the spaces You’ve placed me, and let my faith be visible—not just in my words, but in how I live. Amen.
