Prayer Initiative: Closer to Jesus Sample

Long ago, Father Jacob dug a well. He searched for the spring and dug the well deep, holding enough water for his family, livestock, and anyone stopping by to quench their thirst. Father Jacob didn’t know that Jesus Himself would sit there one day. Tired and thirsty, He waited for someone to come and give Him water. Or was that why Jesus sat by Father Jacob's well?

Though He had nothing to draw water with and His disciples went to the town to bring Him food, He was not focused on His physical needs. He had a different food to eat that His disciples knew nothing about – to do His Father’s will and finish His work. He had to go through Samaria to sit at that well. When the Samaritan woman came, Jesus, despite all existing rules, asked her for a drink, explained everything to her, and revealed Himself to her: “I am He.”

On that day, sitting by Father Jacob's well, Jesus saw near and far, as near as this woman and as far as the ripe fields, fully ready for harvest. And He had just gained one more worker, a Samaritan woman who left her jar and ran fast into her town.

Are you tired or thirsty? Ask Jesus to give you the Living Water. Drink, eat, feast on the Word. When you are satisfied, think about the Father’s will for you and the work He is giving you to finish. Ask Jesus: “What do You have in Your Word for me today?” Listen and pray.

INTERCESSION : “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37,38)

PRAYER :

• Pray for more workers in the Harvest.
• Pray for your church to be a sending church.
• Pray for active mobilization of leaders, youth, children, men, and women.
• Pray for laborers in your neighborhood, village, city, or country.
