Have you ever prayed for something but didn’t expect much to happen?

We all do that. Life has a way of lowering our expectations. But what if following Jesus meant raising them instead?

Right before he returned to heaven, Jesus told his followers not to act, not to plan, but to wait with expectation. He promised the Holy Spirit would come. They had no idea what that would look like, but they trusted. And what happened next changed everything.

That same Spirit is still working today—inviting us to live with bold, open-eyed expectation. To believe we will see God’s goodness as he meets our needs and satisfies our desires with good things. To believe the Spirit is powerful and personal.

So what about you? Where in your life do you want to see the Holy Spirit show up in power?

• Anxious about school or the future?
• Dealing with conflict in your family or friend group?
• Feeling pressure to be perfect or afraid of rejection?
• Stuck in shame, fear, or doubt?

Don’t shrink your prayers down to what seems possible. Ask big. Hope big. And even when you don’t see answers right away, don’t give up. The Spirit is already moving—even if you can’t see it yet.

Remember, Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to his disciples, but they waited fifty days before he came. Waiting doesn’t mean God isn’t working. It just means his timing is better than ours.

Try praying this:

“Holy Spirit, I want to see you at work in my life. I invite you into my fears, my questions, and my everyday moments. Help me wait with faith and confidence. I want to see your goodness—right here, right now.”
