Unparalleled Parables: Small Stories With Great Meaning

DAY 28 OF 30

Who was your most feared teacher? đŸ‘©đŸ»â€đŸ«

In school, I had a very strict English teacher—Mrs. Fernandes.
Her stern presence alone was enough to make even the most confident student nervous.

Even though English was my first language, and I was one of her favourite students, the pressure of trying to meet her sky-high expectations always made me mess up my homework. Just the fear of disappointing her would trip me up.

So, I can relate a bit to the third servant in Jesus’ parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), who, out of fear for his master, did nothing with what was entrusted to him and buried it instead.

At first glance, it seems like his fear is justified.
After all, when the master gets home, the servant does get scolded.

However, there are a few interesting observations to be made.

Firstly, the servant was afraid of failure, whereas the master had faith in him.

It is specifically mentioned that the master trusted his servants and gave each of them according to their ability (verse 15).

That means the master knew what he was asking of them and didn’t ask more than they could handle.

Secondly, the servant calls his master a “hard man,” but what did he do to deserve that title? In reality, the master appears to be a very generous and trusting boss. He could have put his wealth in the bank, but chose to entrust it with his servants instead.

The third servant is allowing irrational fears to prevent him from reaching his full potential, choosing instead to trust the paralysing doubts he has about himself and his master.

The enemy will always try to:

  1. Convince you you’re not capable
  2. Make you question God’s faithfulness

The truth is, God is like the generous master. He has entrusted you with greatness and is cheering you on!

Take a moment today to surrender the doubts and fears you have about God and yourself to Jesus. Ask Him to reveal His goodness to you.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.

About this Plan

Unparalleled Parables: Small Stories With Great Meaning

Jesus often chose to teach through parables for a reason: these simple yet profound stories conveyed deep spiritual truths and timeless life lessons in a way that resonated deeply with His listeners. When we take the time to understand them within their historical and cultural context—hearing them as His original audience would have—we, too, can experience their transformative power.
