God Still SpeaksSample

Faithfulness in the Everyday
Deborah’s story didn’t begin on a battlefield. She also didn’t rise to leadership overnight. Prior to that, she was already faithfully serving. She was known to be sitting under a palm tree, serving the people of Israel. She was a wife, a prophet, and a judge, but more than anything, she was someone who had learned to listen to the voice of God in her everyday life.
Before any victory, song, or prophecy fulfilled, there was obedience.
Deborah’s influence didn’t come from ambition. It came from consistency in the way she served God. The people around her trusted her because they had seen her live out her relationship with God, day after day. Her voice carried weight because her life had been shaped by faithfulness in the ordinary moments where no one was watching…except God.
When the time came for God to act, He didn’t look for the most powerful or the most qualified. He looked for someone whose heart had proven trustworthy. Someone who had already been walking closely with Him, and responding in obedience. He looked to Deborah.
Her courage wasn’t rooted in confidence in herself or her own ability to lead. It was rooted in confidence in the God she served. When Barak hesitated, Deborah stood firm. It wasn’t because she had all the answers, but because she trusted the One who did. She reminded Barak of God’s promise, and then she moved forward because she believed that God would do what He said.
Maybe today you feel stuck in the “ordinary.” Maybe you wonder if God can use someone like you. Deborah’s story reminds us that being faithful where you are is the very thing that prepares you for what God has for you next. And often, those moments don’t start with a platform or a title. They start with obedience.
God develops our gifts in us, long before anyone else sees them. He watches how we steward what’s in our hands now, before He gives us something more.
So serve. Lead. Encourage. Speak life. Be faithful.
Because the quiet moments of obedience?
They are never wasted.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to be faithful where I am. In the ordinary and the unseen, remind me that You are working in and through me. Teach me to hear Your voice and to trust You, even when the next step feels unclear. Like Deborah, may I be steady, bold, and obedient—ready to move when You say move, and ready to wait when You say wait. Develop in me the kind of faith that grows deep over time, shaped by Your presence and guided by Your Word. I’m listening. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
