Father’s Love: 30 Days of Discovering God as FatherSample

Day 12 – A Listener
I want you to know and believe that Father hears you and He listens! He listens to what you say aloud, and He listens to what you say internally. My husband is an avid football fan and over the years, I’ve learned to understand and respect this time for him, so I do not bring up any important topic when he’s watching a game especially involving his two teams; Ohio State Buckeyes and the Dallas Cowboys (I know, I know). I’ve also trained our toddler not to bother daddy during those times.
Your heavenly Father is ever ready to listen to you no matter what time or day you call out to Him! He has no off day or time! Psalm 116:1-2 (NLT) says, “I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” The creator of the universe bends down to listen to you so as long as you have breath, never stop speaking to Him because He also says in 1 John 5:14 that if you ask anything according to His will, He hears!
Spend time in prayer today, speaking to God as you would to your earthly father or best friend. Then by faith, have a pen and paper ready to write down what He says back to you. This could be a scripture, a thought, a song that pops up in your head out of nowhere, or He could just speak audibly to you. He may not say anything right then and there, but He could speak as you are doing chores around the house, driving, sleeping, etc. Be ready to listen too.
Read, internalize, and pray each scripture to deepen your faith.
