Father’s Love: 30 Days of Discovering God as FatherSample

Day 8 – A Faithful Father
Oh, what a joy to know that we have a Father who is truly faithful. Unlike people, God never breaks His promises. His faithfulness stretches beyond generations. Daddy can be trusted because if He said it, trust that He will do it. I remember meeting my dad for the first time—excited, yet the visit lasted less than five minutes, with promises to see me again. Years later, our second meeting was just as brief. I wrote him many letters (in the days before cell phones and social media) but never received a reply. As a child, the hurt and disappointment ran deep.
A common mistake is saying,“If God wants me to have it, nothing can stop it,” or“If I don’t have it, God must not want me to.” While there’s some truth in that, it’s very incomplete and unbiblical. We see how God gave the children of Israel an entire promised land, but upon spying out the land, ten out of the twelve spies chose fear instead of trusting in God. (Numbers 13). We have a part to play in seeing God’s faithfulness. Remember, we also have a real enemy who works to keep us from God’s promises—causing us to doubt, question God’s integrity and words, lose faith, disobey, or walk away from His will (Genesis 3). Daniel 10:12–14 shows how fiercely the enemy resists even our answered prayers and we can’t stop praying until Father answers yes, no, or wait.
Take some time and look at different areas of your life that you’re trusting God in. Find one to two scriptural promises about each area and pray those scriptures until the promises become your reality. Deepen your faith by reading Biblical stories that shows God’s faithfulness as well.
Read, internalize, and pray each scripture to deepen your faith.
