Living Out Your Faith
“How do I share God’s Word with others?” - Bella, 14, California
Jesus tells his disciples in Acts 1:8 that they will be his witnesses to all the world. And as his followers, we, too, are called to be his witnesses to those around us.
You might have heard this described as giving your testimony. The word testimony comes from the Latin word that means to be a witness. But unlike the kind of testimony you might give in a courtroom about a single event, your testimony of faith is a story that’s still being written. It’s not a fixed moment. Your testimony is the story of your salvation and forgiveness, but it’s also the story of your ongoing walk with Jesus.
That story is still taking place as you walk with God each day. Think about what you can do in the next week, month or year to have a testimony you’re proud to share.
Your testimony is something that’s both public and private. Solitary moments of prayer, reading Scripture and listening to God are the things that strengthen your faith, preparing you to stand for God publicly when the moment arises.
Sharing your faith can mean telling others about it directly, but it also means living with integrity, loving others and showing forgiveness.
Whether sharing with a crowd or a longtime friend, we share our faith with gentleness and respect, and trust God will do the rest.
