Heart of Worship: 30 Days to Deeper Praise

DAY 15 OF 30

Hi there, it’s Michael Monroe and today I’m bringing you a Scripture from Revelation 15:3-4 (NIV):

“and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations. Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.””

In Revelation 15, we get a glimpse into Heaven’s worship through the vision of John. He sees angels standing by a sea of glass, holding harps and lifting up their voices in worship through song. One detail that strikes me in this passage is that they are singing the Song of Moses and The Song of The Lamb—many generations joining together in worship.

We first see the Song of Moses in Exodus 15 after God delivers the Israelites from the Egyptians by allowing them to cross the Red Sea. When the people of God witnessed the power, might, and deliverance of God they couldn’t help but praise, singing “I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously.” Later, in Deuteronomy 32, Moses would sing this familiar song again, remembering the faithfulness and power of God. This song was birthed from deliverance - God saves.

The Song of the Lamb, the song we will be singing for eternity, is an even greater anthem of deliverance - worshipping Jesus for all that He is and all that He’s done. We have deliverance from sin, shame, and every curse of hell. “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, He made a way for all to come to Him. It seems to me that, in Revelation 15, the choir of angels sing both songs because they tell the same story - the Lord saves, the Lord reigns, and the Lord is worthy of all honor and glory and power.

Here’s what I want you to take away from reading this: the songs and prayers we lift today are not fleeting. What if the songs we are singing today are being echoed at the throne? The thought of that brings tears to my eyes. When you join the church on Sunday, or whisper that hymn in your car or when you cry out to the Lord in your living room - you are joining in with both the ancient chorus and the future chorus praising the Lord who is worthy of all our praise.

Moses’ song on the shores of the Red Sea was not the end of the story - it echoed again in John’s vision of Glory. So, what if our songs are echoing forward into eternity? Let’s praise as if that is true. Let’s treat our worship here on earth as a heavenly rehearsal for the choir we will join - when every nation and tongue is gathered before the Throne singing “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

About this Plan

Heart of Worship: 30 Days to Deeper Praise

We're called to worship God, but how do we do that well? And what does it look like? Join us for the next 30 days as we study the act of worship and praise throughout Scripture alongside Elevation Worship, Matt Maher, CAIN, Matthew West, Bethel Music, and more! Our prayer is that you would feel on fire for the Lord and He would be magnified through your worship at the end of these 30 days.
