Hi there, it’s Garett & Kate with Bethel Music and we are so excited to bring you today’s Scripture from Philippians 2:10-11 (NIV)!
“that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
The first picture that comes to mind when reading this passage is of an Army General. When a General walks into a room, everyone in the room stands at attention and every person under their command yields to their authority. Is this picture not magnified when we think about the Lord? That by just speaking His name, the name of Jesus, every thing in heaven and on earth recognizes the power and authority that is within that name. This is both beautiful and powerful to be reminded that we have access to this authority as we declare that Jesus Christ is Lord. This is the God that we serve and we have a direct relationship with Him through every season of life. Today, wherever you find yourself, take time to acknowledge the power & authority that comes at the mention of the name of Jesus. Maybe take a moment and just speak the name of Jesus over your life. We love songs like “I Speak Jesus” because it removes us from the equation of trying to make things happen and it reminds us that when you don’t know what to do, call on the name above all names. Something happens to our faith when we call on His name. So let’s call on the name of Jesus today.
Let’s pray:
Jesus, we thank You that all we have to do is call on Your name. We thank You that in the moments of tough circumstances, we can simply call on Your mighty name and know that You show up. We acknowledge that You are Lord of all and that You hold all authority and power in Your hands. I thank You today that I have authority because of who You are and what You’ve done. Remind my heart and stir my faith to believe for the impossible because I have all authority through Your name, Jesus. We give it all to You. We love You. Amen!
