The Biblical Definition — Do Not Worry, Trust the Father
The Bible shows us that anxiety is a common human reaction to stress. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus repeatedly addressed it, reminding His followers with the phrase: “Do not worry.” Why? Because worry magnifies the problem and minimizes God’s promise.
The birds of the air do not store up barns, yet they are fed. The lilies of the field do not work or spin, yet they are clothed in beauty. If God cares for them, how much more will He care for you?
Anxiety in the Bible is portrayed as being inconsistent with trust in God. It does not mean you will never feel worry. It means you do not have to let it control you. Often our anxiety circles around provision, performance, or reputation. We fear not having enough, not being enough, or not being seen the right way. But Scripture invites us to shift our focus back to the Father who never forgets His children.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for reminding me that the Father knows my needs before I even ask. Teach me to look to You instead of being consumed by worry. Help me to trust Your care in every detail of my life.
Daily Challenge:
Write down one worry about provision, performance, or reputation. Then next to it, write this declaration: “God is my provider, my strength, and my identity.” Speak it aloud every time the worry rises.
