Made for More: 30 Days of Experiencing More Life, Love, and FreedomSample

Day 3: Removing the Masks
Every man and woman has, at some point, believed lies about who they are—and who they are not. These lies rarely come from nowhere. They sneak in through judgments, criticisms, or painful moments. Often, they arrive through the actions and words of others. To make matters even worse, a force working behind the scenes seems to orchestrate and capitalize on these moments. The enemy of our hearts and of our life with God is a sinister foe.
These wounding moments where guilt, shame, or fear take root become the raw materials of our false-self construct. With the help of our enemies' craftsmanship, wounding moments help shape a version of us that isn’t real. Rather, just a collection of sophisticated masks. Over time, these masks feel safe. Familiar. Even necessary. But they’re not the true you. And they’re not protecting us. They are, in truth, hiding us behind prison walls.
The life Jesus offers—Zoe, the full and abundant life with God—can’t be experienced behind a mask in a cell. As long as we believe the lies, we’ll keep hiding behind them. And in doing so, we deny our true identity, the space to live and breathe. We become less than who we were created to be. Worst of all, these lies block us from experiencing the love God is continually offering.
If we’re going to be free, something has to change. We need a kind of spiritual surgery—a deep, intentional removal of the masks that keep us from the life we long for and are meant for. Until that happens, the false self will keep shaping our days and decisions, blocking us from receiving the love that allows us to live free. The false self is Satan and his dark forces agent on our inside that will keep us bound to a life of fear and striving, far from the abundance Jesus died to give us.
Many of us settle for parole instead of freedom—maybe in and out of the cell but still in the prison, carrying the weight of shame, fear, and a false identity. But Jesus didn’t die to parole us. He died to free us.
He paid an inconceivable price to make that freedom possible, and He is committed to helping us live in it. He wants to disassemble the lies, remove the masks, and restore our hearts. Not just so we can be healed—but so we can bring our true, whole, authentic selves as we move in relationship with others. That’s how the Kingdom expands: one restored heart at a time and the training up of that heart in how to live and maintain Kingdom Life.
It starts with surrender. A willingness to see and then hand over the ways in which we hide.
We must see the masks for what they are, see the lies that formed them, and turn them over to God. We must get vulnerable—yes, even spiritually “naked” before our Father who longs to clothe us with something better. Well-fitted garments. Kingdom-tailored. Heavenly good.
And here’s the beautiful part: God delights in these moments. The “fittings,” where we let Him gently undress our false self, are sacred. He removes what isn’t us… so He can reveal who we truly are.
So today, let Him begin.
Give Him your masks. Invite Him into the wounds. Let Him dress you in truth, love, and freedom.
Because the life He has for you–
It’s not just better.
It’s real.
It’s full.
It’s Zoe.
And… it can be yours.
As you reflect on all this with God today, consider asking:
Ask God to show you your masks, and the ill-fitting clothes you have been made to wear.
When He shows you, turn them in. Ask God to take them, acknowledge that somewhere in your story you put them on and let Him know you don’t want them anymore. Then, ask God to fit you with who you truly are, to dress you in what is right, and good, and true for you.
Father, is there one phrase or sentence that feels like it’s just for me today? Would You help me hear it clearly and understand why it matters?
