What Happened to Us in Eden? - Psychology of the FallSample

THE MIRROR OF EDEN
What happened in Eden has marked us all. From the joy of walking with the Creator to the collapse that brought inevitable death—a reality still passed down from generation to generation… until He comes.
The principles that flow out of Creation are foundational for understanding God’s character and His mind. By looking at the first man and woman, we also see ourselves more clearly. But our reflection today focuses on something deeply relevant: identity.
- Who is God, and who are we?
- What defines us as human beings?
- What about the equalities and differences between man and woman?
- Do we have to choose between being equal or complementary?
- Is Eden still key to our identity?
- Can we approach the text honestly, setting aside our inherited interpretations, so the text itself may uncover us?
I believe we can. These passages can act as a mirror—reflecting who we are, but above all, who God is. It’s an exercise for the brave, one that changes us if we let the Lord work through it.
Scripture is still that living and active double-edged sword, reaching deep within, separating what must remain from what must be transformed. As I’ve walked back to Eden and experienced transformation in my own life, I want to invite you to do the same and share in these reflections.
This is not about originality. These truths have always been there. But because we’ve often read them only through traditional lenses, we sometimes become so familiar that we overlook what’s right in front of us. Yet they remain vital.
The journey is exciting but requires guidance and wisdom. We cannot do it alone. So let’s close this first day (as we will in the days ahead) with simple prayers:
- Asking the Spirit to guide us into truth, because His Word is not always easy.
- Choosing not to run ahead, but to listen carefully to His voice.
- Asking Him to show us what we cannot yet see.
About this Plan

What happened in Eden has shaped us all. From joy in the Creator’s presence to the collapse that brought death—still felt and passed down until He comes. The principles of Creation reveal God’s character and His mind. And when we look at the first man and woman, we also see ourselves more clearly. As both a psychologist and a follower of Christ, I find this deeply moving. So I invite you to join me in returning to Eden, to reflect on what truly happened there—and what it means for us today.
