FEAST: 30 Days of Real Truth for Real Life

DAY 26 OF 30

Day 26: Peter—Passion

Snack

  1. Passion can lead to both bold faith and painful failure.
  2. Jesus restores and redirects us when we fall.
  3. Our love for Him matters more than our perfection.

Appetiser

Have you ever acted quickly out of passion, only to regret it later?

Main Course

Peter was known for his passion. He was the disciple who stepped out of the boat and walked on water toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind and waves, fear overtook him.“Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. ‘You of little faith,’ he said, ‘why did you doubt?’” (Matthew 14:31 NIV).

Peter’s passion also showed when Jesus asked,“Who do you say I am?” Peter boldly declared, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16 NIV). Jesus affirmed him, saying that on this rock He would build His church. Passion can be powerful when rooted in revelation.

Yet passion unchecked can stumble. In the courtyard, Peter denied knowing Jesus three times, just as Jesus had predicted (Luke 22:54–62). When the rooster crowed, Peter wept bitterly. Failure is often the shadow side of passion, but it is not the end of the story.

After the resurrection, Jesus gently restored Peter on the shores of Galilee. Three times He asked,“Do you love me?” and three times Peter affirmed his love. Jesus replied, "Feed my sheep” (John 21:17 NIV). Peter’s passion was redirected into shepherding the early church with boldness and care.

Passion alone is not enough—it must be refined by grace. Peter’s life shows us that God does not discard us for our failures. Instead, He redeems them, turning passion into purpose.

Like Peter, we may step out boldly and then falter. We may speak with conviction one moment and stumble the next. But Jesus restores, reminding us that love for Him is what matters most.

Your passion, surrendered to Christ, can become a force for His kingdom.
