A Seat for the Unseen

Jesus didn’t sit with the respected or the admired. He sat with the outcasts, the ones everyone else ignored.

He shared meals with tax collectors, with sinners, with those society had labeled unworthy. The Pharisees watched in shock, shaking their heads. In their minds, holiness meant staying clean, avoiding the unclean. But Jesus showed them something different.

When He ate with the outcasts, they didn’t taint Him. His holiness didn’t push them away: it healed them. The table of God’s Kingdom turns the world upside down in the best possible way: the broken are welcomed, the lost are celebrated, and the ashamed find grace.

Jesus isn’t impressed by appearances or reputation. He meets people where they are, bringing the cure for sin, shame, and brokenness. The “wrong people,” the ones others reject, are exactly the ones He calls to His table.

This isn’t just a story from long ago. It’s true today. Jesus invites you, right now, to that same kind of table. No matter what you’ve done, no matter what others think, His love makes you clean. His acceptance makes you whole.

And just as He changed the lives of those around Him, He calls us to do the same: to share our meals, our homes, and our lives with others, especially those overlooked, judged, or rejected. When we follow Him, holiness works in reverse: love flows outward, grace spreads, and every table can become a place of welcome.

So today, look at your own table. Who is missing? Who might experience God’s love through your invitation, your presence, your open heart? Jesus has a seat for them. Will you make room?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, today I come to You with a bare soul, with a sincere heart that You already know so well. I do not wish to pretend anything, but to show You my wounds, my past, and my fears. You, Lord, who can see what no one else can, transform me according to Your will and remind me that Your grace is always abundant.
