Don´t Lose Hope

DAY 1 OF 6

Although it may seem crazy

In 1 Samuel, we see how Saul had been anointed as the first king of Israel. A war arose against the Philistines, who had 30,000 chariots, 6,000 horsemen, and a people as numerous as the sand of the sea to destroy and ravage Israel. There was a very serious problem in the nation of Israel, for Scripture says that no sword was found in Israel's army; for there were only two swords: Saul's and his son Jonathan's.

Seeing the magnitude of their enemies, the Israelites were afraid and hid in caves. In 1 Samuel 14:6, we see Jonathan telling his armour bearer to go over to the enemy camp because perhaps the Lord would do something for them. Jonathan makes a powerful declaration: "For it is not difficult for the Lord to save by many or by few."

It seemed crazy for Jonathan to go with a sword to face an entire army, but he had in his heart "Perhaps the Lord will do something for us," so he began killing the first few men, causing dismay and fear in the Philistine camp. When Saul and the people arrived at the battleground, they saw the Philistines killing one another. Furthermore, the Hebrews who were sided with the Philistines rallied in Israel’s support, giving confidence to the Israelites in hiding who then came out to fight, and in this way they obtained the victory.

Those who wait on the Lord will not be put to shame!
