The Pursuit - 12 WeeksSample

Acts 2 records the very first sermon of the early church. Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, declares that Jesus — crucified and raised — is both Lord and Messiah. His words pierce the crowd to the heart. Their response is simple: “Brothers, what should we do?”
Peter doesn’t complicate things. He says, “Repent and be baptized… in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” Repentance means turning around — changing your mind and direction. It’s not about getting everything right or becoming instantly perfect. It’s an attitude of surrender — a willingness to stop going your way and start going God’s way.
Saving faith requires more than just the right information about Jesus; it requires the right attitude toward God. The crowd in Acts 2 models this perfectly. They didn’t debate, delay, or negotiate. They turned from their sin and declared their faith in Jesus.
This story reminds us that responding to Jesus isn’t just about hearing truth — it’s about acting on it. When the gospel pierces your heart, the only right response is to say yes to forgiveness and new life.
Reflection:
Have you ever had a moment when God’s Word “cut you to the heart”?
