Grace & Truth

DAY 1 OF 5

The Fullness of Grace and Truth

The Gospel of John begins the story of Christmas not with a manger, but with a mystery. “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.” In that one verse, we find the heart of the incarnation. God did not send an idea or a feeling, but His very self. Jesus entered our world to reveal exactly who God is.

Grace is God’s unearned favor, His active help that transforms what we cannot fix on our own. Truth is reality as God sees it, unchanging and often uncomfortable. Jesus came to embody both. He never used truth to wound or grace to excuse. His truth exposed what was false, and His grace healed what was broken.

When we look at Jesus, we see the perfect union of both qualities. He spoke words that challenged, yet loved in ways that restored. Grace and truth together draw us out of denial and into freedom. As Advent begins, God invites us to reflect His heart. Truth without grace can harden us. Grace without truth can weaken us. But the two together make us whole.

Reflection Questions:

1.Where in your life might God be inviting you to hold grace and truth together instead of choosing one over the other?

2.When has someone’s truth-telling helped you grow, even when it was difficult to hear?

3.How can you mirror Jesus’ union of grace and truth in the way you speak, lead, and love this week?

About this Plan

Grace & Truth

Advent is the season when we prepare our hearts for the arrival of Jesus - the Word made flesh, full of grace and truth. In these five reflections, we’ll look at how Jesus reveals the fullness of God’s love and challenges us to live in that same balance of mercy and conviction. Each week offers a Scripture reading, a short devotional, and questions for reflection to help you draw closer to Christ. As you read, may you come to know that God’s grace meets you in truth, and His truth always leads you back to grace.
