GRACE OVERFLOWS - 30 Days of Grace.

DAY 1 OF 30

The First Appearance of Grace

Did you know the first time the word grace appears in Scripture, it shows up in the middle of a dark and hopeless moment—and it opens the door to a picture of salvation? In Genesis 6:8, we read, “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” (NLT). That small verse carries a huge truth: even when the world was drowning in corruption, God was already revealing His heart to save.

The days of Noah were brutal. Humanity had turned inward, driven by evil desires, and Scripture says every thought they had was bent toward wickedness. Their choices grieved God. Not because He stopped loving them, but because sin had deformed what He created beautiful. Yet in the middle of widespread rebellion, one man stood out—not because he was perfect, but because he walked with God.

Noah found grace. He didn’t earn it. He didn’t negotiate it. He didn’t work for it. Grace came to him because God chose to give it. And through that grace, God unfolded a plan of salvation—not just for Noah, but for his entire household. The ark became a picture of what Christ would one day become for us: a place of refuge, safety, and deliverance from judgment.

This is why the first appearance of grace matters so much. It shows us that God’s heart toward humanity has always been redemptive. From the very beginning, He was not looking for ways to condemn us but ways to rescue us. Long before Jesus came in the flesh, God was already sketching the outline of the salvation He would provide through Him.

Grace has always been God’s answer to sin. Noah’s story isn’t just history—it’s a reminder that God reaches for us even in our darkest seasons. He provides a way out long before we realize we need one. What an incredible God: faithful, patient, compassionate, and always ready to save.
