The Promise & The Call

“I will give you every place where you set your foot... As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Joshua 1:3, 5 (NIV)

Let’s set the scene… God had just called Joshua to lead His people into the Promised Land after Moses’ death. That’s a big deal. Joshua was standing at the edge of the Jordan River, facing an unknown future – but he wasn’t alone. God made him four powerful promises:

1. I will give you every place that you set your foot. – Joshua 1:3 (NIV)
2. Your territory will extend to far-reaching places. – Joshua 1:4 (NIV)
3. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. – Joshua 1:5 (NIV)
4. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you or forsake you. – Joshua 1:5 (NIV)

These aren’t just promises for Joshua – they're promises for all of God’s people. I wonder what promises God has over your life, and over the lives of your family and friends. Whether you’re starting a new school year, trying to live for Jesus in your day-to-day life, or figuring out what your future looks like, God is with you. Whatever those promises are and whatever God has called you to, remember to be strong and courageous, for today God is with you – and He will never leave you or forsake you.
